About Us
"For the faith and in the service of humanity."What We Do
As one of the island’s oldest charities, St John Ambulance has been attending to the first aid needs of the Bermuda community since 1894. We are part of a global organisation known as the Order of St John whose history dates back to 11th century Jerusalem.
We teach valuable life-saving skills through our training programs and provide an ambulance service designed to provide medical coverage at public events. We attend over 200 events annually such as the Bermuda Day Marathon and Parade, Rugby Classic, Cup Match, Powerboat and Motocross races, various community events and much more. We also offer a patient transfer service, working closely with the hospital and nursing homes across the island to make the transfer process as simple and efficient as possible.
We do not have any full time staff and rely totally on our dedicated volunteers in order to operate. We would not be able to do it without our volunteers who offer their skills and time to make a real difference in the community. We also depend on donations from the community in order to raise funds to cover the cost of services, supplies and equipment.
Our Mission
To enable our community to improve their health, safety and quality of life by providing training and community service.
To have our volunteers provide medical coverage, deliver community health awareness services and provide emergency response for disaster relief.
To encourage personal development for people of all ages through training and by membership within our organization.
