Princess Royal Visit 2017

St. John Ambulance Bermuda received a recent visit from the Princess Royal and Vice-Admiral Sir Tim Laurence

The couple made a whirlwind visit to the Island for the finals of America’s Cup, with the Princess Royal specifically requesting to visit St John in the field.

The royal couple met St John volunteers, the Chairman and Commander of St John Bermuda, Justin Williams as well as Commissioner Gareath Adderley and Deputy Commissioner Jeffery Borgess.

Mr Williams said, “It was an honour for St. John Bermuda and a special treat for our hard working volunteers that Her Royal Highness saw fit to brave the heat and the crowds to visit St John’s mobile response unit and foot patrol teams during the finals of America’s Cup. St John was proud to be the primary health care supplier during this important event for Bermuda”

St John Ambulance Bermuda fielded three ambulances as well as golf cart and foot patrol teams involving up to 40 volunteers throughout the America’s Cup period. It responded to a variety of emergencies including on site treatment as well as ambulance transfers to the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, coordinating with the Bermuda Police Service and the Fire Department.

The Princess Royal is the second child and only daughter of the Queen, who is the patron of St John worldwide.

The Princess Royal is a Dame of Justice of the Most Venerable Order of St John of Jerusalem and is an active member and supporter of St John, United Kingdom.

She was last on the Island in May of 2011.
